Veronica A. Davis
Parishioner of St. William’s Church


TEWKSBURY: Veronica A. (McHugh) Davis, age 92, a resident of Tewksbury for 53 years, passed away at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

She was the beloved wife of William Davis, who passed away in 1992.

Born in Fox Harbor, Newfoundland, Canada on August 7, 1928, she was one of eleven children of the late John McHugh and the late Matilda (Duke) McHugh.

Veronica was raised in Fox Harbor, graduated from Fox Harbor High School, and was a member of the “Green Gang”.

She and her late husband remained in Fox Harbor for several years until moving to the Dorchester and Brighton area of Boston.

In 1967, Veronica and her husband moved to Tewksbury, where they raised their seven children, and became parishioners and members of the St. William’s Church community.

Veronica worked for many years as an Inspector for the Gillette Company in Andover until her retirement.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Family meant everything to her.

Veronica was the mother of Mary E. Sullivan and her late husband Joseph of Tewksbury, the late William J. Davis, Patricia McAuliffe of Dunstable, Veronica ”Bonnie” Latta and her husband John of Tewksbury, John R. Davis and his wife Janet of Tewksbury, the late Richard G. Davis, and Michael Davis of Tewksbury. She leaves her daughter-in-law, Diana Twyman-Davis of Dracut, who was married to her late son Richard; nine grandchildren, Brian Sullivan and his wife Neeve, Robert McAuliffe, Alexandria Carbunari and her husband Romulus, Bryan McAuliffe and his wife Lauren, Annmarie Anderson and her husband Geoffrey, John Latta and his partner Beth Harrington, Matthew Davis and his wife Leandra, and Mark Davis and his wife Rebecka; fourteen great grandchildren, Ava, Kiley and Sean Sullivan, Jameson, Jaxon, Declan, Nolan, and Gavin McAuliffe, Gwendolyn and Flynn Anderson, Vivian and Isabel Davis, and Charlotte and Everly Davis; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Veronica was pre-deceased by her seven sisters and three brothers.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there are No Calling Hours. Family and friends are invited to meet at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Rte. 38, Tewksbury on Friday, January 15th at 11:30 a.m. for her Funeral Mass. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In adherence to Covid-19 Guidelines, church is limited to 80 attendees and cemetery to 25 attendees. Masks and social distancing required at both venues. Donations honoring her memory may be made to Tewksbury Community Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
