Obituary

John A. “Jack” Gentili 87, of Franklin, passed away Sunday January 10, 2021 at Milford Regional Medical Center, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Lena G. “Lee” (Pannichelli) Gentili.

Born May 24, 1933, in Franklin, a son of the late John and Anne (Pasquantonio) Gentili, he was a longtime resident of Dennisport until moving back to Franklin several years ago.

He was raised and educated in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1950. An outstanding athlete at Franklin High, he played baseball, basketball and football, during his senior year he was elected captain of the football team.

A proud American, he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in December 1954.

Jack gave of his time to the youth of Franklin; he was one of the first coaches for the Franklin Chargers and coached many years with Franklin Little League. He enjoyed watching all the New England sports teams. He was most happy spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jack is survived by his children, Rick J. Gentili and his wife Laura of Franklin, Paul T. Gentili and his wife Mary of Franklin, Gene A. Gentili of Texas, a brother Thomas Gentili and his wife Jean of Franklin, his grandchildren, Kristin, Stephen, Nicholas, Matthew and Nicole Gentili.

Due to Covid-19 a private service was held.
