Obituary

Robert I. Cosgrove, age 87, of Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died January 11, 2021 at Brockton Hospital. Bob was the loving husband for 43 years of the late Beverly E. (Madan) Cosgrove. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, Bob was the son of the late Francis P. and Lillian E. (Johnson) Cosgrove. Bob entered the Air Force after high school and served during the Korean Conflict. For over 30 years, he was employed at Proctor & Gamble in Quincy and retired at age 58.

Bob “the Governor” was a pool shark and a member of Brockton and Bridgewater Pool Leagues for over 25 years. He also enjoyed travel, wood crafts, golf and poker. Known for his great sense of humor, he was devoted to his family, grandchildren, longtime companion Helen and friends. For many years Bob enjoyed time at his time share in Las Vegas and trips to Foxwoods.

Bob was the father of Karen J. Cosgrove and her husband Jeffrey Houle of Carver, Donna M. Cashin (late Paul) of Plymouth, Kevin F. Cosgrove of N. Bedford and Paul S. Cosgrove (BFD) and his wife Lisa of Duxbury. He also leaves seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his longtime companion Helen Gill of Easton. Bob was the brother of the late Grace Perry, Richard Cosgrove and Lawrence Cosgrove.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Monday, January 18, from 9-11am. A private family service will be held at 11am followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. In following COVID guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing observed in the funeral home, with a maximum of 25 people in the funeral home at any one time.
