Helen Mills Allen, (88), of South Dartmouth, died of heart failure at St. Luke’s Hospital on January 11, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Taber) Mills and the widow of Frank A. Allen. Mrs. Allen was born in New Bedford but lived most of her life in New York City, summering in South Dartmouth. She was graduated from the Brearley School, Vassar College, and Columbia School of Library Service. For many years she was the librarian of the Union Club in New York. After retiring, she volunteered as a docent and in the library of the Whaling Museum. She was also active in the local theatre groups.
She is survived by a son, David M. Watson, Jr., of Half Moon Bay, CA, a daughter, Ann W. Lipham of Weymouth, MA, and three grandchildren. Donations in her memory to Your Theatre, Inc.
Due to the pandemic, there will be no memorial service. Burial is private, arrangements by the Wilson Chapel.
