Obituary

Thiessen, Phillip W. of Wellesley, January 9, 2021. Beloved husband of the late Carol C (Pine) Thiessen.  Brother of Arrilda Fullington of Carlinville, Illinois and Port Charlotte, FL.  Beloved brother-in-law of Marjorie Pine of Newburyport, Diane Bergner and her husband Dieter of Oldsmar, FL, and Douglas Pine and his wife Imelda, of Dumfries, VA.  He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Phillip graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in mechanical engineering.  He recently retired, having spent his career with the Raytheon Company. Phillip had several roles with Raytheon, including Senior Fellow in the Integrated Defense Systems, with an emphasis in communications.  He received the top MechSE Alumni Honor from University of Illinois, as well as other government awards for his expertise.

Phillip was a Renaissance man and found joy in many things, including history, literature, movies, art, photography, Springer Spaniels and later cats, and anything mechanical. He was a parishioner at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Wellesley for many, many years. Above all, he loved and missed his late wife, his sweetheart.  He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Phillip’s funeral service will be private at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home in Wellesley, MA. Interment in Mayfield Cemetery, Carlinville, IL. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to a charity of choice.
