Obituary

CHICOPEE – Chester A. “Chicopee Chet” Gosciminski, 89, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, January 11, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center East in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born at home on State Street in Chicopee on August 21, 1931, the beloved son of the late Michael A. and Sally (Tukaszkiewicz) Gosciminski. He was raised and educated in Willimansett and lived there most of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was the longtime owner and operator of Chet’s Auto Repair on Florence Street in Willimansett for many years and retired in 1997. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee and a former member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and his friends. He was predeceased by his two beloved wives, Gloria J. (Narreau) Gosciminski who was Called Home in 1987 and Patricia V. (Steery) Gosciminski who was Called Home on June 23, 2000. He was also predeceased by his former wife, Anita J. (Bissonnette) Gosciminski Bernier who was Called Home on March 7, 2015. He leaves his four loving sons, Chester M. Gosciminski and his wife, Danielle Plouffe, of Northampton, Thomas C. Gosciminski and his wife, Sharon, of Easthampton, Anthony J. Gosciminski of Desert Hot Springs, CA and his wife, Lynne, and Michael D. Gosciminski and his wife, Karen, of Granby; his eight cherished grandchildren, Monique Braese and her husband, Christopher, Cheston Gosciminski, Amanda Gosciminski, Matthew Gosciminski and his wife, Kacy Muir-Gosciminski, Michael Gosciminski, Bryan Gosciminski, Samantha Gosciminski and Zachary Gosciminski; his two dear sisters, Dorothy Girard and her husband, Donald, of Southwick and Henrietta Winiarski of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents and his wives, he was predeceased by his dear sister, Helen T. (Gosciminski) Such Gladu who was Called Home on August 15, 2017. His family would like to thank the excellent staff at Willlimansett Center East 3rd Floor for the loving care that they provided to Chet over the past four years. His Funeral will be private for his family followed by his Burial with United States Navy Military Honors at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
