Joseph F. "Joe" Lupo, a 25 year resident of Somerville and a former proud Charlestown resident, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge. He was 90 years of age.
Joe was born in Boston on July 15, 1930, a son of the late Joseph J. Lupo and Emma (Brown) Lupo. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and Charlestown High School. Joe enlisted into the United States Air Force on October 1, 1952 and served his country faithfully and with courage during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on September 30, 1956 with the rank of Airman First Class. Joe worked as a Machinist for Sweetheart Paper Company in Chelsea for over 30 years. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed reading and in his earlier days was known to play a good game of pool at the old pool hall on Bunker Hill Street. Family was very important to Joe and he cherished all the special moments spent with his wife, 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren.
Joe is the beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Ferreira) Lupo. He is the devoted father of Mary Battinelli and her husband Catello, Patricia Lunardi and Linda Brown. He is the loving Pa to Gina Battinelli, Catello Battinelli III, Angela Lunardi, Jennifer Lunardi, Nicole Lunardi, Anthony Lunardi, Samantha Brown and Jacob Brown. He is the beloved brother of the late Mary Stockbridge and Helen Harris.
Joe's Funeral Services and burial at the Veteran's Administration National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
