CHICOPEE - Janice P. (Patrie) Demers, 93, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2021 with family by her side. She was born in Chicopee in 1927 to Armand and Charlotte (Hickory) Patrie, attending St. Joan of Arc Elementary School and Cathedral High School Class of 1945. She was predeceased by her “perfect” husband of 55 years, Albert Paul Demers, in 2007. Janice’s memory lives on in her children, James (former wife Mary Morry) of Brooklyn, NY, Christopher (wife Kathy) of Willington, CT and Charlotte (partner Paige Garvey) of Newcomb, NY. She was predeceased by her son, Kenneth, in 2017 (wife Noreen) of Adams, MA. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren, Ryan Demers (wife Tara Glynn) of Plattsburgh, NY, Daniel Demers (wife Brooke Sheeran) of Newmarket, NH and Alexandra Demers of Madison, WI; and her great grandson, Teague Demers with another two great grandchildren on the way. Janice also leaves two brothers, James and David Patrie, and was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, Gerald and Robert Patrie; as well as two sisters, Jackie Willemain and Carol Rogalski. Janice enjoyed summers with Albert at the Whitecaps Campground on Lake Willoughby, VT as well as skiing, golfing and road trips with her friends and hosting holidays with her family. She especially enjoyed cuddling babies as a volunteer in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical. The family wishes to offer heartfelt thanks to longtime neighbors, Sue Lemieux, Jeannette and Jim Montemagni and Gary and Donna Labrie for their support through the years, as well as Samantha Farquhar for her kind and gentle home care help. A graveside Service at Sainte Rose Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
