Obituary

Beatrice Ann Galbreath, age 87, entered into rest on January 3, 2021 at her home in Prosser. She was born in Prosser on July 11, 1933 to Joseph Henry and Pearl Mildred (Ragsdale) Pearson. Beatrice graduated from Prosser High School with the Class of 1952. She worked at Hanford from 1952-1953. Beatrice married James “Jim”
Henry Galbreath on June 21, 1953. They had a garden wedding in Prosser.

Jim and Beatrice raised their children in Kennewick for fourteen years. Beatrice was a member of the Prosser Gardeneeres. While living in Kennewick, Beatrice worked at a hardware store and then at a flower shop. After that, she and her husband did part time work as upholsterers. James and Beatrice returned to Prosser in 1975.

Beatrice began homeschooling her youngest daughter, Katie, in 1984. In 1985 she helped establish Skyview High School in Kennewick and served as principal for two years, until Katie graduated from high school. Beatrice’s son, Jamie, had three children: Christal, Nicole, and Joseph. In 1995 Beatrice began homeschooling those grandchildren.

Beatrice enjoyed gardening, farm life, reading, drawing, piano playing, and carpentry. She especially loved taking care of her sheep and flowers. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, James “Jamie” A. Galbreath (Diana) of Ilwaco; her two daughters, Karen J. Galbreath of Prosser and Kathleen “Katie” M. Robbins (Edward) of Kennewick; two sisters, Virginia M. Heggen (Richard) of Sheldahl, IA, and Kathryn L. Miller of Grandview; her foster brother, Duncan Ross “Fraser” Squire (Pat) of Benton City; her foster sister, Faye A. Bergen of Brookville, IN; her grandchildren, Christal I. Cothren, Nicole M. Hagerman (Scott), Joseph H. Galbreath (Jenna), Sarah A. Whited (Adam) and Rebecca M. Robbins; and her great-grandchildren, Patricia M. Cothren, Natalie A. Cothren, Joshua C.A. Wishard, Abigail Rose Hagerman and Henry S. Galbreath; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Galbreath on December 17, 2009. Beatrice was also preceded in death by her half-brother, Edward M. Pearson, her brothers, William S. Pearson, Richard
H. Pearson; and her foster brother, Albert “Gordon” Squair.
