Obituary

SPENCER___Alfred E. Wiechniak, 92, of Spencer and formerly of Worcester, died Thursday, January 7, 2021 in St. Francis Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. His wife Theresa (Lafond) Wiechniak died in 2009 and his son Paul Wiechniak. He is survived by his sister-in-law Cecile and David Douglas, nephews, David A. Douglas, Mark E. Douglas, nieces Deidre Ann Douglas, Denine Marie Weldon and her husband Matthew and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He is predeceased by his siblings. Benjamin Wiechniak and Sally Sepulka. He was born in Worcester a son of Victor and Catherine (Paskwar) Wiechniak.

Mr. Wiechniak worked as a machinist at the former Henry L. Hansen Company for many years. He later worked as a custodian in the Worcester School Department. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and a Bronze Star Recipient. He was a former member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. He was a longtime member of the Polish American Veterans. Al will be remembered as a kind, pleasant and polite man who enjoyed great pleasure spending time with family and friends.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street, Worcester. The funeral Mass will be streamed online at www.olcworcester.com. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, Worcester. Funeral home attendance is limited, based on current gathering guidelines and face mask requirement. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
