Obituary

Barbara A. Struckmeyer (Burke), of North Hill Needham, a longtime former resident of Wellesley Hills, died January 9, 2021.

Mrs. Struckmeyer was born in Lexington, Massachusetts on August 6, 1927. She graduated from Boston University School of Education in 1949. She was an elementary teacher in the Newton Public Schools and always maintained her interest in education. Mrs. Struckmeyer was a faithful member of Saint Paul Church in Wellesley for more than 65 years.

Barbara was preceded in death by Wilbur C. Struckmeyer, her beloved husband of 51 years. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francis E. Burke Esq., of Lexington, MA. She is survived by her 3 children, Charles S. Struckmeyer and his wife, Dianne, of Vienna, Virginia, Carol S. Walsh and her husband, Richard, of Bedford, New Hampshire and Nancy S. George and her husband, Anthony, of Medway, Massachusetts. She was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren: Richard J. Walsh IV and his wife, Sarah, Stephen C. Walsh, Andrew G. Struckmeyer and his wife Stephanie, Peter C. Struckmeyer, William G. George, and Charlotte R. George. She was the great grandmother of Brady P. Struckmeyer and Lucy D. Struckmeyer.

She was the sister of the late Madelyn D. Holmes of Stratham, New Hampshire and aunt of Cynthia N. Holmes and Scott Holmes. To her family and friends she will be remembered for her grace, generosity, and faith.

A private funeral Mass will be held at Saint Paul Church, Wellesley, MA., with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley, MA.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
