Obituary

Judith H. (Richards) Blethen, 84, formerly of Medway, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at The Enclave of Franklin. She was the beloved wife of Harold C. Blethen and the late Norman E. Carlson.

Born in Newton on January 30, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Langdon and Beatrice (O’Leary) Richards.

Mrs. Blethen was a former resident of Medway for many years and had also resided in Florida and on Cape Cod.

Mrs. Blethen worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for various businesses in the area. Among her many interests, she was a talented seamstress with an artistic eye for fashion, home decor, floral arranging, and took great pleasure in sharing her creations with others. A compassionate lady, she was a friend to many and always made those in her presence feel valued and loved.

She was a lifetime member of The Episcopal Church, where she served on the alter guild, as well as donated her time and talents as an active member of the church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Janet Nelson and Linda Brucato and her husband John, of Milford and by her step children, Roger Blethen and his wife Pamela Keating, Susan Ludwig, Sandra Carew and her husband Michael, David Blethen and his wife Janet and the late Sheryl Sheppard all of MA. She was Grandmother to five grandchildren, Jonathan, Jacob and Gianna Brucato, Taylor Nelson and wife Melody and Travis Nelson, along with her many step grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late Langdon Richards, Jr., Leslie Richards and Frederick Richards and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are private at the request of her family and under the care of the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
