Obituary

Vincent (Vinny) Tortorici, age 72, moved on to a new and eternal stage of his life with God on January 6, 2021. He died peacefully at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington after a gallant struggle to survive the Covid-19 virus. Vinny was born in Cambridge, MA, raised in Medford, and became a long-time resident of Tewksbury after his marriage. After graduating from Don Bosco High School in Boston, he continued with technical training at the Charlestown Navy Yard. During his career as a piping design draftsman, he worked for several distinguished engineering companies in the Boston area.

Vinny was a long-time member of Saint Williams Catholic Church in Tewksbury and was an active and distinguished member of the Tewksbury Knights of Columbus, where he served as their Treasurer and was a past Grand Knight. He loved spending countless summer evenings with family and friends in Lovell, Maine, on the docks of Kezar Lake. He was a straight talking, tell it as it is guy who had a smile for everyone. During the Christmas season he donated much of his time to charitable organizations by playing Santa Claus, with his real white beard.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Ann (Petroni) Tortorici, his uncles – Charlie Tortorici, Frank Tortorici, Larry Tortorici, Michael Petroni, Francis Petroni and Vincent Petroni; his aunts - Josephine (Petroni) Colford, Joan (Barruw) Petroni, Mary Tortorici, Ann Tortorici, Eunice Tortorici, Lee Petroni, Mary Petroni, and Connie Petroni.

Vinny’s passing is mourned by his children Deanna Bourbeau and her husband Kevin of Pepperell and Paul Tortorici and his wife Sara of Carlisle; his brother Salvatore Tortorici and his wife Carolyn of Overland Park, KS; and his partner Carol Harrington of Medford; grandchildren Kacie and Rylie Bourbeau, and Finn and Sawyer Tortorici, niece Julian Hill-Tortorici and great-niece Morgan Yanez. He was very close with his cousins who will miss his visits and jovial personality: Mary Ann Tortorici Marrocco of Reading, Nancy Tortorici Swan of Byfield, Frank Tortorici of Methuen, Kathy Tortorici O’Connell of Stoneham, Mary Ann Tortorici Guadagnoli of Framingham, Frances Tortorici Launie of Sandwich, and Carol Tortorici Sabanty of Stoughton; Vincent Petroni of Canton, Linda Petroni Davis of Seabrook, NH, Dolores Petroni Callahan of Woburn, Laura Petroni of Medford, Michele Petroni Fitzsimmons of Stoneham, Mark Petroni of Quincy, Sharyn Petroni Seymour of Dracut, Dana Petroni of Richmond, TX, Andrea Petroni Maffeo of Billerica.

Due to COVID restrictions, his funeral services were held privately at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA. However, we invite Vinny’s family and friends to participate in a virtual remembrance and prayer service to be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 between 5-6 PM.
