Obituary

SOUTH HADLEY – Stasia M. (Sigda) Ragoza, 88, a longtime resident of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Linda Manor Assisted Living in Leeds surrounded by all of the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born in Holyoke on July 2, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late John J. and Antonina (Bury) Sigda. She was raised in Holyoke and graduated in 1950 from Holyoke High School. In 1952, she received her nursing degree from Providence School for Nursing at Providence Hospital where she was a registered nurse. She moved to South Hadley in 1958 where she lived for most of her life before moving to Leeds in 2015. She was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley Falls. Most of all, she was a devoted mother who showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles F. “Charlie” Ragoza who was Called Home on April 4, 2015. They were married on June 22, 1957 at Mater Dolorosa Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving children, John F. Ragoza of Milford, Michael A. Ragoza and his wife, Rita, of Madison, AL and Mary Anne Ragoza-Miller and her husband, Keith Miller, of Birmingham, AL, her loving former daughter-in-law, Karen Ragoza of Danvers, NH; her five cherished grandchildren, Jocelyn Burnett and her husband, Joseph, Mallorie Bleka and her husband, Kristofer, Melissa Kershaw and her husband, Christopher, Christopher Ragoza, and Jeffrey Ragoza and his wife, Kim; her two cherished great-granddaughters, Sophie Rose Paul and Charlotte Kershaw; her dear brother, Eugene Sigda and his wife, Linda, of South Hadley; her dear brother-in-law, Richard Holst of Camarillo, CA; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving daughter, Susan A. “Susie” Ragoza who was Called Home on November 22, 2019; her dear brother, Dr. Fred Sigda; and her dear sister, Alice Holst who was Called Home in November of 2020. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley Falls, MA 01075. (Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home and church capacity is limited due to state regulations) Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
