Obituary

SHERRY-ANN ORTIZ, 53 of Springfield, MA, formerly of Passaic, NJ passed away on December 28, 2020. Sherry-Ann was predeceased by her father Frank Ortiz Sr., and stepfather Walter Charchuk.

Sherry-Ann is survived by her mother, Carmen Charchuk of Lutz, FL, her grandmother Matilde Capo-Cintron of Passaic, NJ, her dear brothers Frank Ortiz Jr. of Tampa, FL, Jessie Blesing of Tampa, FL and Daniel Blesing of Clifton, NJ, her sisters, Francine Dreyfus (Tom) from Jackson, NJ, Johanna Charchuk (Matt) from Mt. Laurel, NJ, and Tahtianna Rodriguez (Nestor) from Port Richey, FL. Sherry-Ann is also survived by her adored neice and nephews Joshua, Frank (IV), Gabriela, Thomas, Christian, Liam, Chase and Mason. In addition she is survived by her aunts, uncles, numerous cousins and friends.

Sherry-Ann is fondly known to family and friends for her obsession of Betty Boop and sweets, her love of Solitaire, Crossword Puzzles and Suduko, she was probably one of the few paperback subscribors still left. She had a quirky personality, a very loving heart and brave like a lioness to her cubs. Sherry- Ann was not only a loving sister but also a, friend, a bodyguard, a teacher and a mother, even though she suffered from Chronic Asthma, it never held her back. She had gone through so many challenges with her asthma, but she always pulled through. She battled with this illness many times and she won some battles. But this battle was not hers to fight, it was to teach us not to hold back to survive and live. She was old school, she didn’t drive but she knew all the bus schedules and how to get around. She lived her life the way she wanted. Free spirited like our father. We would swear she was part gypsy just like our father. She can easily get you upset and she easily make you happy. She was not perfect with her choices, but she was perfect for our family. Anywhere she would go or where ever she lived, she would meet people and make them her friend. She had a spirit like no other. She will be miss dearly by us and to many. She left us with so many loving memories and will alway have a loving place in our heart. We Love you very much, you will always be my little sister.

Unfortunately, due to current COVID-19 restrictions a Memorial/Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in NJ.
