Doreen Macy died on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s and more recently with COVID-19 and pneumonia in a nursing home in Uncasville, CT. She was 84.
Born in Montreal, Canada Doreen was one of five children to Patrick and Margaret Mulcahy.
Doreen was employed at Electric Boat in Groton, CT prior to retiring.
Since retirement, she enjoyed living on a sailboat in Mystic, CT and spending time sailing to Florida and back with her husband John.
She was renowned for her realistic bird carvings that were sold in retail stores.
Besides her parents, Doreen was predeceased by her husband John Macy; brothers Robert Mulcahy, George Mulcahy, sisters Marjorie Mulcahy, Dorothy Morrison and son Kenneth Bodnar.
She is survived by her brother Tom Mulcahy, her sons John Bodnar of Houston, TX and son Chris Bodnar of Hillsdale, NY. Her Grandchildren Kelly Allessio, Megan Bodnar, Jenette Bodnar, Rebecca Roos, Nick Bodnar, Sam Dewees, Andrew Bodnar & 11 Great Grandchildren.
