Obituary

Marie A. Silvestri (Buscanera) passed away at the Lahey Clinic of Burlington on New Year’s Day. She was 87. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Antoinette (Marino) Buscanera.

A Somerville resident for most of her life, Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She took care of her family at home and enjoyed many years working with her husband. She helped operate Gino Silvestri Business Machines for many years. Marie and Gino also had a travel agency for 20 years. And of course, they benefited from many travel opportunities. Marie organized many trips for her family and friends in Italy, the Caribbean and the Pacific, creating lasting memories and fun times for everyone. She was a talented writer and put that ability to good use in her business activity. Marie also enjoyed crafts and knitting. Gino dubbed Marie’s group of friends the” Knit Wits Club” as they spent a few evenings together monthly making various knitted items of clothing and crafts. She was a kind and generous woman and will be missed by those who knew her.
