Maguire, 86, a longtime resident of both Tewksbury, MA and Woodstock, NH passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, with his family by his side, at home in Tewksbury after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Claire Ann (Cooper) Maguire with whom he has shared 62 years of marriage.

Doug was born on March 17, 1934 and grew up in Medford. He was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1952. He served his country with the United States Army in the 1950’s.  After discharge from the Army, he went to Northeastern University where he earned a Masters Degree in Engineering.  He had a career as a quality engineer, with Polaroid, spanning over 30 years before his retirement in the early 2000’s.

Doug was a devoted grandfather and great grandfather.  Spending time with his grandchildren brought him the greatest joy in life.  He was an avid golfer, a member of the prestigious hole-in-one club, and a longtime member of the Tuesday Night Divots Golf League at the Tewksbury Country Club.  Over the years he was a course ranger at Billerica Country Club and a starter at the Jack O’Lantern Golf Course in Woodstock, NH.  Doug was a life member of the Tewksbury Lions Club.  In his younger days, he ran the children’s bowling league at the former Wamesit Lanes and coached within his daughters' softball league in Tewksbury.

In addition to his grandchildren, great grandchildren and golf, another passion of his was cruising with Claire. The two of them experienced the world from the deck of a cruise ship over the course of their marriage and some of his fondest memories were made during that time.
