Obituary

Katherine (MacMaster) Doherty, age 85, of Milton, Massachusetts, died December 26, 2020 peacefully at home. Her husband Eugene Doherty predeceased her.

She is survived by her sister Patricia (MacMaster) Whalen of Naples, FL and was predeceased by her older sister Maryann (MacMaster) Landry. She is survived by her seven children, Anne (and Thom) Crook, Woody Doherty, John Doherty, Amy Doherty, Kate (and Mike) Bia, Krista Doherty and Kara Doherty. Kaye was the devoted grandmother of Ben and Lindsay Crook, and Charlotte, Caroline, and Louise Bia.

Kaye was born and raised in Brookline, MA. She met Gene while working at the Herald American. They settled in Brookline and raised their family before relocating to Arlington, VA in 1995. Kaye was busy working at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, and volunteering at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum and the White House Visitor Center into her 80s! She left the nation’s capital to be closer to family in Boston and settled at Fuller Village in Milton where she made a new group of wonderful friends. Kaye was an avid reader and as her eyesight declined, enjoyed her books on tape.

Funeral from the George F Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., Wellesley on Thursday, December 31, at 8:45am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ignatius Church, Chestnut Hill, 10am. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-7pm. Interment in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline. Please follow all Covid-19 guidelines. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, 600 Washington St, Boston, MA 02111.
