Obituary

Gilda A. “Jill” (Maiocco) Pedi, age 95, a longtime resident of Winchester, passed away on December 26, 2020. She was the beloved wife for 73 years of Mario J. Pedi, until his passing in 2018.
Born and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Dolage) Maiocco. She was a graduate of Somerville High School.
Mrs. Pedi met the love of her life, Mario, at a dance hall with friends, and they would eventually marry, move to Winchester, raise and educate their children there. Jill was remembered by her children as “an amazing, generous, woman, who put her children and everybody else before herself”. They also recalled how she always carved out time to enjoy her morning coffee, cookies & muffins, and making sure her hair and lipstick were just right before venturing out for the day.
Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with Mario, their children and grandchildren. She and Mario enjoyed traveling together, and had journeyed all over Europe, Japan, the Caribbean Islands, Bermuda and Hawaii. They also escaped to Disney World every five years as a family, especially when the grandchildren were born.
Jill is lovingly survived by her children, Lewis Pedi of Chicago, Joan Cronin and her husband Dusty of Winchester; her grandchildren, Christopher Cronin and wife Erin of Billerica, Nicole Wiswall and husband Maguire of Burlington, and her great-grandson, C.J. Cronin. She is further survived by her dear sister-in-law Janet Maiocco of Winchester, and was predeceased by her brothers Albert “Nick” and Carl Maiocco, with whom she shared an especially close relationship.
