Carmen D. Perrotti, Jr.,93, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Thursday December 24, 2020 at the High Pointe Hospice House, Haverhill, MA. Carmen was a son of the late Carmen D. Sr and Frances M. (Martin) Perrotti. He was raised in Revere, MA, attended Chauncy Hall Prep in Boston, MA and completed an advance math course at Manter Hall in Cambridge, MA.
Mr. Perrotti served in the US Navy during WWII serving in the US Naval Aviation Combat Aircrewman Program. After his honorable discharge, he rejoined the US Navy Air Reserve at NAS Squantum, MA, with Carrier Air group 56. After his formal discharge, he joined the newly formed USCG Aero Squadron and subsequently received his wings as a Coast Guard Auxiliary Aviator and Training officer of the Revere Airport Squadron. Carmen was a member of American Legion Post 61 of Revere, the Boston QB Hanger, and was membership # 22 of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Vintage Aircraft Division and the International Cessna Birddog assn. He flew for many years with his father, Carmen, Sr. who was a flight instructor in the 1930’s. It was at this time that he realized his dream of flying in the Golden Age of Flight. He owned and piloted many of the open cockpit bi-planes of that era and many other aircraft of the time, including his ex-USAF Cessna O-1 Birddog. He was an active pilot for 30 years.
Devoted husband of 72 years to Eileen T. (Hayes) Perrotti, beloved father of James R. Perotti of Naples, FL, the late Ann Elizabeth Higgins, Kathleen M. Desciscio of Beverly, MA, and the late Eileen Carr, loving grandfather of Christina, Robert and his wife Allyssa, Patrick and wife Melissa, Eileen, Rose, Carmen Ann, Steven, Ryan and Kevin; great grandfather of Adriana, Vincent, Salvador, and Briella. Also survived by one brother Ted Perrotti and wife Barbara of Melrose, MA, his three nephews and one niece. He was predeceased by one nephew.
Carmen will forever be remembered as a faithful servant of his country and a loving husband, father and friend.
There are no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Holy Name of Jesus Mausoleum, Malden, MA where he will be entombed.
