Obituary

IN LOVING MEMORY OF
GEORGE F. ROBERTS, JR
1947-2020

George F. Roberts Jr., 73, of Franklin, MA, passed away on December 21, 2020, surrounded by those he loved.

George grew up in Milton, MA where many of his family and friends fondly referred to him as Teddy. Following in his father’s footsteps, Teddy fell in love with ice hockey, a sport he would not only avidly watch but also play for years to come. Rounding out his days in high-school, Teddy finished on a high note snagging the title of Most Handsome for his contagious smile and his stunning blue eyes.

In 1967, he started his career in technology, where he made several lifelong friends including his best friend Bernie Brennan. He also discovered his passion for computers, a fact that many were reminded of when they received one of several emails per day from him. Though some may remember his love of Apple products, others will remember the breadth of knowledge that came with those gadgets.

In 1978, he fell in love and met his match, Phyllis Bremer. George knew Phyllis was a keeper when he let her ride his beloved motorcycle where she not only managed to stay upright but also sped right by him. Together they traveled around New England, sometimes by motorcycle, other times by car. They moved from Cambridge to Franklin, MA in 1984. They later married and he gained two wonderful stepdaughters, Joanie and Laura. He was an integral part of their lives right from the start, capturing countless images to record their shared memories while also capturing their hearts.

In 1996, 1998, and 2001 his three grandchildren were born. Though he was quite the comedian, those that know him will remember that he had the biggest heart and always made sure those around him were well cared for, a fact that was evident in his time spent with his grandchildren. Whether he was being silly and playing a crayon box like a kazoo or documenting everything with his camera, George was a source of many happy memories for his grandkids and will be severely missed by them.

In his downtime, George could be found riding his motorcycle, watching a Clint Eastwood movie, or enjoying a Bruins hockey game. Of course, he always had his signature Black Russian in hand and his two cats, Thomas and Alfie, keeping him company.

Until the end, always the jokester, George brightened every room he walked into with his positive attitude and selfless nature. The lives he impacted cannot be measured. He will be missed by so many.

George is survived by his wife Phyllis Bremer of MA, stepdaughter Joanie Connell and husband John Thornburgh of CA, stepdaughter Laura and husband Dave Camire of FL, Granddaughter Emily Camire of UT, Granddaughter Caitlin Camire of FL, Granddaughter Elizabeth Thorell of CA, Sister Diana Roberts of MA, brother Cameron Roberts of MA, sister Lucy Roberts of NC, niece Page Donnelly of OR, niece Diana McCarley of CA, and nephew Carter Roberts of MA.

Memorial Service will be announced once COVID-19 is over to allow for everyone to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mass General Cancer Center to support the Center for Cancer Research.
