Alan C. Bliss, 76

Dateline: Rehoboth, MA

Alan C. Bliss, age 76, of Rehoboth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the loving companion of Robin Rocha, with whom he made his home.

Born in Attleboro, MA on August 1, 1944, he was a dear son of the late Annie B. (Burke) Willett and her late husband William Willett.

Al grew up and was educated in Rehoboth. He had made his home in Rehoboth for most of his life and had also resided in Norton.

Alan had a lifelong love for firefighting. He served as a Lieutenant on the Norton Fire Department and later became the Fire Chief for the Town of Rehoboth. Mr. Bliss was also the former owner of Flynn Pest Control in Rehoboth, which today is still family owned and operated.

Al was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Rehoboth. He loved the outdoors and his hobbies included boating, fishing and hunting.

In addition to his companion Robin, he is survived by his devoted children: Alan S. Bliss and his wife Charlotte of Norton, Donna L. Bliss-Richer of Springvale, Maine, Tracy L. McKinney and her husband Kenny of Locust, North Carolina and Cheryl L. “Sherrie” Ratcliffe and her husband Al of Cranston, Rhode Island. He was the grandfather of Amanda, Ashley, Alyssa, Amber, Justin, Brendan, Trevor, Ariana, Alexis and the great grandfather of Brayden, Blake, Arielle, Autumn, Amelia and Judson. He was the brother of the late Mary Flynn and Donald Bliss and is also survived by his nieces, nephews and former wives Joanne Lund and Eleanor Bliss.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, December 27th from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

His graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, December 28th at 11:00 A.M. at Stevens Corner Cemetery, Anawan St., Rehoboth.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alan’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 260 Cochituate Road #200, Framingham, MA 01701.
