Ms. Jackie Gibbs, 77, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Monday, December 21, 2020, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Arp Cemetery in Irwin County, with the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating.
Ms. Gibbs was born April 26, 1943, in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late Clayton C. & Mary Abbie Tomberlin Gibbs. Although she never had natural children, she raised many of her nieces and nephews. Jackie had a special affinity for children; she loved them and they loved her. She never met a stranger and was always willing to talk. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and loved collecting memorabilia and listening to his music. An Elvis impersonator was a favorite
birthday surprise to Jackie a few years back. She was a member of Arp Missionary Baptist Church in Irwin County.
She is survived by a brother, James Gibbs of Rebecca; several nieces and nephews including a special niece and caregiver, Mandy V. Thomas & Trae of Irwin County; along with many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lamar Gibbs; and two sisters: Shirley Vassey and Jane Watson.
