Obituary

Adolphus “Doc” Youghn, 92, of Irwin County, Georgia passed away peacefully, Monday, December 21, 2020, at Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Roy Conner officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:15 AM until 11 AM at the cemetery.

Mr. Youghn was born March 3, 1928, in Wray, Georgia to the late Onnie Ogeechee Youghn and Dora Richardson Youghn. He attended school in Lax, Georgia. He was a farmer most of his life but also owned and operated the Bay Service Station and D & E Kennels in Ocilla. His hobbies included hunting and trapping. Mr. Youghn was married to the late Eloise Walker Youghn for 63 years. They raised five children and enjoyed a happy life.

He is survived by his five children: Wanda Youghn Hankla (James) of Waycross, Brenda Youghn of Ocilla, Jerry Youghn of Ocilla, Eddie Youghn (Andrea) of Baxley, and Scott Youghn (Wesley Johnson) of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren: Casey Youghn, April Greer (Perry), Ryan Hankla (Tiffany), Jeremiah Clark and Brooke Anna Youghn; great-grandchildren: John Waide Hankla, Maelynn Jane Clark, Zoe Marie Youghn and Savannah Youghn; one brother, Eugene Youghn and a sister, Effie Purvis. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Walker Youghn, his siblings, Barbara Ross, Naomi Harper and Lora Harper.
