Sophie(Dabrowski) Bresnick, 80, of Manchester died March 12, 2006 at the Concord Hospice House after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. She was born October 31, 1925 in Manchester, to John and Anna (Bieniek) Dabrowski. She attended St. Casimir School and was a graduate of Manchester Central High School Class of 1943A.
She was employed by the State of NH, working for the Welfare Department, Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Probation and Motor Vehicle Department. She retired with 29 years of service. She later worked for Dr. James Shea as a medical transcriptionist. Prior to her illness she was a greeter for Wal-Mart.
Mrs. Bresnick was a communicant of St. Hedwig Church. Sophie’s talents included singing in minstrel shows as a young woman, sewing, knitting, ceramics, needlepoint and cross stitching. Friends and family were recipients of her handiwork. Sophie enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and especially visiting the great- grandchildren in South Carolina.
IN HER LIFE: She was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1995 and by her 10 siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Carrier of Manchester; a grandson and his wife, Craig and Rebecca Carrier and three great grandchildren, Courtney, Madison, and Cameron Carrier all of Lexington, SC. During her illness she received much support from family and friends for which her family is grateful.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday March 16, 2006 at St. Hedwig Church, corner of Beech and Orange streets, Manchester. Burial followed in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Bedford.
