Fall River – Joseph A. “Tony” Cormier, 66, of Westport, died Monday, March 13, 2006, unexpectedly at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Brenda M. (Souza) Cormier.
He was born in Fall River, son of the late George and Lillian (Levesque) Cormier, and had resided in Westport for the past 31 years. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and also in the Reserves. Mr. Cormier was the owner / operator of Cormier Movers and Westport Self Storage both of Westport. He was a member of the American Legion Post #145 of Westport and Westport Business to Business. He was also an avid bowler.
Including his widow, he is survived by 2 sons: Jeffrey K. Cormier of Fall River and James K. Cormier of Fall River; 3 daughters: Lori A. Baccaro of Portsmouth, RI, Lisa M. Roy of Westport and Karen L. Pires of Westport; 5 brothers: Robert Cormier of Providence, RI, George Cormier of Tiverton, RI, Jean Cormier of North Carolina, Roger Cormier of Newport, RI and Paul “Butch” Cormier of Tiverton, RI; 2 sisters: Linda Hartman of South Dakota and Charlotte Oliveira of Swansea; 7 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Janet Hambley.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Wednesday 4 – 8 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
