Obituary

Mr. John L. Hambrecht, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved husband of the late Flora (Houston) Hambrecht, passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose on Wednesday evening, December 16, 2020. He was 95 years old.

Born in Medford, Massachusetts, on August 6, 1925, he was the beloved son of the late Henry G. and Helen (Hunt) Hambrecht. Mr. Hambrecht was a US Navy Veteran. John entered the United States Navy at Medford on November 12, 1943 and received his honorable discharge from Boston on May 3, 1946. He worked as an Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class while serving in the Navy. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, American Area Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the Aircrew Insignia, for his exemplary service. He was self employed as a Plumber, for many years. He retired from Tufts University in 1990 where he had been their plumbing and steam-shop foreman for the Medford/Somerville campus.

He is survived by his loving children; Deborah J. Hambrecht and her husband Kenneth B. Dowler of Medford and John L. and his wife Karen S. Hambrecht of Lynnfield, cherished grandchildren; Corey S. and Jessica L. Dowler, Jonathan S. Hambrecht, Kaitlin Caulfield, Julie R. Hambrecht and her fiancé Craig Olson. Great-grandfather of Ellie Aster and Arlo John Hambrecht. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
