Obituary

Walter F. Popiak, a lifelong resident of Webster, died on December 16 of natural causes. He passed away at home with his family by his side.

Walter is survived by his children: his daughters Rena Klebart (Thomas), Frances Stoffer (Mark), and his sons Nikefore Popiak, and Skip Popiak (Mary); his grandchildren: Thomas, George, Alya, May, Meg, Luke and Ally; and his great-grandchildren: Will, Lucas, Ellie, Leo, Avery, Barnaby, Mason and Max. He was predeceased by his wife, Cecilia Popiak; his parents, Nikefore and Anna Popiak; and his siblings, Mary Nowacki, Peter Popiak, and Frances Sroszynski.

Walter was born October 29, 1927, in Webster and lived there all of his life. He served his country during World War II as a proud Marine. An avid and skilled golfer, he found a golf course wherever he travelled, but most often you could find him on the links at Nichols Golf Club in Dudley. He started his career in sales at Deary Brothers in Dudley, and spent most of his working life at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. A friend to all, he will be dearly missed by many. He would gladly tell anyone he met that he was a lucky man, and that he had lived a wonderful life. He was deeply loved and cherished by his family.

Because of the pandemic, there will be no calling hours or services. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather.

The ROBERT J. MILLER FUNERAL HOME and Lake Chapel, 366 School St. is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
