Grace Paris, of Burlington and a former longtime resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, December 13, 2020. Grace was just shy of reaching the age of 94. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Basile) Parisi. She was born in Cambridge just after the stroke of midnight, January 1, 1927 and was the first baby born that new year.
Grace was raised and educated in Cambridge where she graduated from the Cambridge High and Latin School. Following high school, Grace began her Federal Service career at the South Boston Army Base and was quickly promoted to the Boston office of the IRS. She then transferred to Washington, DC as the Chief Administrative Assistant to the Director of the IRS. Upon retirement, Grace returned home to Woburn. Later she moved to the Cape and worked for several years at the Yarmouth Town Hall until the age of 80. Grace delighted in entertaining her many many nieces and nephews at her Harwich and Yarmouthport homes with elaborate home cooked Sicilian meals and numerous trips to the beach.
In her final years, she moved back to Woburn to be closer to her family. In her waning years, her niece Anne Marie Andrews of Groton, and her brother Tony of Woburn assisted in her end of life issues.
Grace was the cherished sister of Anthony C. Parisi of Woburn, the late Dr. Joseph Parisi and Jennie Andrews. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and two great great nieces.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, WOBURN, Tuesday, December22nd, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. All attending must wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing protocols. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Grace's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
