Obituary


James M. Hallisey (ret. Chief, BFD) age 90 of Middleboro, died December 12, 2020 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Willey) Hallisey and Gail (Langlois) Hallisey. Born and raised in Brockton a son of the late William and Mary (Egan) Hallisey, Jim lived in Brockton for many years before moving to Oak Point in Middleboro. During the Korean War, Jim served in the Navy and was stationed in Lakehurst, NJ as a dirigible radio man.

Jim was a graduate of Brocton High School Class of 1948 and earned his associate degree in Fire Science at Massasoit Community College. Jim was a proud member of the Brockton Fire Department for 35 years and retired as chief in 1992. He was a member of the Fire Chiefs Association, past president of Brockton Firefighters Union, Local 144 and taught fire science at Massasoit Community College.

In his free time, Jim loved to travel, read non-fiction books, play pool, bocce, cards and calling Bingo. He especially enjoyed time with his family and hosting the annual Christmas Eve party. He will be remembered as a gentleman and great father.

He is survived by his four children Mary Rose Guillette and her husband Richard of Plainville, MA; James M. Hallisey, Jr. of Brockton, William J. Hallisey and his wife Kerry of W. Bridgewater and John Hallisey and his wife Jennie of Quincy. He was the grandfather of Dennis and Timothy Guillette, Colleen and Kayla Hallisey, Owen and Brooke Winkler, Gavin, John, Joanne, Jillian, and Jaden Hallisey. He also leaves four great grandchildren Aubrey, Nora, Jace and Mila Hallisey. He was the brother of the late William, John and Harold Hallisey, Patricia DesRoche and Mary Rose Steinel.

Visitation in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Friday 9-11am followed by a funeral service. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. In following COVID guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing observed in the funeral home and cemetery. There is a maximum of 40 people in the funeral home at any one time.
