Alma Miller Griner, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, March 13, 2006, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 14, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County, with Rev. T.L. Stone and Rev. Roy Conner officiating. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Griner was born December 18, 1925, in Wilcox County, Georgia to the late Willie Erastus Miller and the late Fannie Jordan Fields. She lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Griner worked in the shipyards in Charleston, SC during World War II and was a former employee of Allied Department Store. She attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Wilcox County.
She is survived by two sons: Rev. Ronny Griner and Philip Griner, both of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Sgt. Michael Griner of Beaufort, SC, Melissa Kelly of Eatonton, Valerie Langston of Fitzgerald and Allan Griner of Mystic; 8 great-grandchildren; sister: Lucille Stone of Bonaire; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleave Griner, a brother, Willie S. Miller, Sr., and two sisters, Edna Jarchow and Vita Pearl Pate.
