Dora S. Fletcher, 97, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Eureka Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with Rev. Jim Osborn, Rev. Stan Bowen and Dr. Buddy Deese officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Fletcher was born October 28, 1908, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late T.J. “Uncle Tommy” and Aleph Byrd Smith. She lived most of her life in Irwin County. Mrs. Fletcher was a homemaker and a member of the Waterloo Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Irwinville United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her daughters: Jimmie M. Kelly and Karleen M. and Bryant Lane, all of Irwin County; two granddaughters: Warena Youmans of Irwin County and Jo Karon and Gary Cox of Valdosta; five great-grandchildren: Kim Youmans, Beth and Gary Vowell, Jay and Melissa Youmans, Erik and Stacy Cox and Heather and Chris Butler; five great-great-grandchildren: Kassidyn Youmans, Kagan Youmans, Koastal Youmans, Ethan Cox and Halle May Cox; two sisters: Ruby Kitchens and Laura Maude VanBrunt, both of Jacksonville, FL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren J. Fletcher, daughter, Alejo Moore and three sisters.
