Obituary

Charles F. Rainey, Jr., 62, of Tifton died Saturday, March 11, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Tifton. Dr. Wayne Roe, Dr. W. Ches Smith, III and Dr. Harvey Ellis will officiate with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Jerry Shiver, Mac Wilder, Jack Perry, Ronald Griffith, Watson Guillebeau, Freddie Dwozan and Kenny Ray will serve as pallbearers and the Elvin Walker Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 13, 2006 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson.

Mr. Rainey was born on December 12, 1943 in Albany and was the son of the late Charles Rainey, Sr. and Mabel Holloman Rainey of Albany. He was a retired turf farmer and owner of Tifton Seed & Sod, served in the National Guard and a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton. He graduated from Albany High School and Georgia Southwestern University and his hobbies were geneology, Southern History. He loved to snow ski and spend time with his family.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Rainey is survived by his wife, Mary Jensen Rainey; one son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Krista Rainey of Chaumcey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Erick Willis of Tifton and Meg and Jacob Hale of Murphy, North Carolina; two brothers, Tommy Rainey of Atlanta and Donnie Rainey of St. George Island, FL; two sisters, Ann Griffith of Franklin Tennessee and Cindy Guillebeau of Albany; and four grandchildren, Rick Willis, Mitch Willis, Jensen Rainey and Jake Hale.
