McCourt, Peter A. of South Boston, formerly of Wellesley, 62, passed away on December 11, 2020 after a courageous battle with stomach cancer.
Loving partner of Mary Simard. The son of the late Mary and Robert J. McCourt, Sr. Brother of Robert, Jr. and Debra of Cohasset, Paul of Hingham, Gary and Mary of Milton, Gregory of Chestnut Hill, Christopher, Sr. of Mendon, NY and Brian and Jennifer Reidy of South Boston. Loving uncle to 12 nieces and nephews.
Peter led a life based on faith, family, friends and laughter. A graduate of Xaverian Brothers High School and Boston College, Peter had a successful career in the mortgage industry. He loved his work because he always wanted to help people and many of his clients became great friends. Peter loved his many years in Harwichport especially his memories working at Thompson’s Clam Bar, where he developed many of his closest lifelong friendships.
Peter was a devoted partner, brother, uncle, and friend and with his generous nature and loyalty it showed in so many ways. We will never forget that great smile every time you saw him.
Peter had a great sense of humor and was never at a loss for words. He had a nice way about him that when you met him, he made you feel that you were a long-time friend. He was always available for a quick one liner that gave you a smile and a quick laugh.
Peter was a board member of the McCourt Foundation, a foundation that he helped establish and was very active in the development and growth.

Visiting hours are Friday, December 18th at 4-7pm at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street, Wellesley. A private funeral Mass will be held for immediate family only. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held later.
