Greg Smith, 63, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, November 27, 2020, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Smith was born May 13, 1957, in Pavo, Georgia, to Gussie Anderson Smith and the late Jesse Steven Smith. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was an avid fisherman and was very patriotic, he loved his country dearly. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Scott Sanders of Fitzgerald, Christopher Lee Smith & Jill of Cary, North Carolina, Steven Matthew DeFore & Kimberlee of Richmond Hill, Melissa Faith McDonald & Jason of Adel, and Jeanette Kathleen Mitchell & Troy of Maramec, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Brooke Alexis Sanders, Brice Sanders, Shaelyn Sanders, Scotty Sanders, Max Bartelt, Emma Bartelt, Ben Bartelt, Kason Alewine, Gabe Giddens, Chloe Giddens, Jordan Fletcher, Savannah Schmitz, Alyssa McDonald, and Jonathan McDonald; great-grandchildren: Keagen Sanders, Caleb Walker, Braxton Milton, and Kayleigh Beal; his mother, Gussie A. Smith of Albany; two sisters: Kay & Larry Knight of Oakfield and Sue Vaughn of Sylvester; a brother, Mike Smith; his mother-in-law, Gladys Sanders of Fitzgerald; as well as nieces: Susan Vaughn, Melissa Weaver, and Mandy Holt. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Greg “Bubba” Smith, Jr.
