Obituary

Pauline Harper Buras, 90, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Friday, November 27, 2020, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, November 30, 2020, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.

Mrs. Buras was born November 15, 1930, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late William Thomas Brady & Minnie Estelle McLemore Brady. She owned and operated Harper’s Grocery. She also worked as a seamstress at SWS Garment. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grands and great-grands. She enjoyed dressing up and going to church. She dearly loved her church family at Arp Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Betty Jean & Herman Lavender of Fitzgerald, Alvin Laverne & Sherry Harper of Ocilla, John Edward & Dena Buras of Texas, and Paula & Steve Smith of Atlanta; grandchildren: Rhonda Renee Lavender, Brian & Shanna Harper, Brandi & Jacob Dean, Aaron Anthony Harper, Samantha Buras Anderson, Michelle Buras Bychurch, Kimberly & Micah Collins, and Kelli & Marc Nelms; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Christine Smith of Acworth. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edgar Harper; her second husband, Paul Buras; a son, Aaron Harper; two grandsons: Tony Lavender and Michael Buras; five sisters; and two brothers.
