Frank O. Greenwood, 77, of Hampstead, NH, died Friday, March 10, 2006 in the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. Mr. Greenwood was born in Haverhill, MA on June 9, 1928, a son of the late Frank and Frances (Colcord) Greenwood. He had been resident of Hampstead since 1994, formerly living in Derry, NH. He was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School in Haverhill, MA, Class of 1946, and a graduate of Fitchburg State University, Class of 1948, where he earned his teacher certification. Mr. Greenwood was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII and Korea. Mr. Greenwood worked as an auto mechanic for 40 years at various dealerships in the Merrimack Valley. He had also been employed as a teacher for Greater Lawrence Technical School in Andover, MA for 11 years, and a teacher's aide for Salem High School in Salem, NH. Following retirement, he was employed as a parts driver for Jaffarian Volvo-Toyota in Haverhill. Mr. Greenwood was active in the Cub Scouts, was a member of the National Education Association, and a member of SESPA.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis M. Greenwood of Hampstead; three sons: Marc Greenwood of Haverhill, Alan Greenwood of East Kingston, NH, and Dana Greenwood, Sr. of Fredericksburg, VA; five grandchildren; one brother, Donald E. Greenwood of Hampstead; one sister, Thelma McNeil of Haverhill; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours were on Monday, March 13, 2006 from 4 – 7 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 14th at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. The burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead.
