Obituary

Adele (Adami) Cecchini, of Somerville, passed away on Wednesday, November 18th. She was 86. Born and raised in Barga, Lucca, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Ansolmo and Lena Adami.

Adele loved to garden. She planted a variety of flowers and vegetables and enjoyed watching her garden flourish. An avid baseball fan, she was obsessed with the Boston Red Sox. When there was a game on TV you were not allowed to interrupt her, and if by chance they lost, Liz knew for certain she would be blamed. Family meant everything to Adele. She had a special relationship with her sister Leda who resided in Italy. Even though they lived across the ocean and many miles apart there was not one day they did not speak to each other. Adele enjoyed Christmas time (even though she always said she hated it). Every room in her house was decorated from floor to ceiling with ornaments, figurines, tinsel, garlands and little elf fixtures that were plugged into every outlet.

Adele was the beloved wife of the late Ronald F. Cecchini. She was the devoted mother of Elizabeth Cecchini and her fiancé Scott, and she was the caring aunt of Karen O'Leary and Maria Delgenio.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Benedict Church, 21 Hathorne St., Somerville, on Thursday, December 3rd at 12 noon with social distancing protocols. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Adele’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 381059959
