Elma Davis Stuyvesant, 82, of Tifton died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at Maple Court Senior Residence. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 12, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. at Ty Ty Baptist Church. Brother Danny Jones will officiate with burial to follow in Ty Ty Baptist Church Cemetery. Nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbeareres. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson.
Ms. Stuyvesant was born on December 31, 1923 in Mitchell County, GA and was the daughter of Berrien Clay "B.C." Davis and Ruth Violett Davis, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a son, Peter Davis Stuyvesant; four brothers, Joe B. Davis, Howard Davis, Rush Davis and Melvin Davis; and two sisters, Myrtle Gandy and Waver Basinger. She was a housewife and a member of Ty Ty Baptist Church. In her early career, she was a telephone operator supervisor; married a military officer and spent 17 years as an officer's wife; retired to Tifton and enjoyed many friends, family and golf at Springhill Country Club.
Ms. Stuyvesant is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Janie Wynette and Donald K. Wolf of Jefferson City, Missouri; one brother-in-law, J. J. McKellar of Sylvester; two sisters, Ruby Powell of Ty Ty and Eloise Mauldin of Ty Ty; one sister-in-law, Nona Davis of Tifton; and two grandchildren and their spouses, Robert K. Wolf and his wife Amy of Kansas City, Missouri and Derek K. Wolf and his wife Betsy of San Ramon, California.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of Tiftarea or to Ty Ty Baptist Churc.
