Obituary

WORCESTER - Placide J. Richard, 73, of 5 Hancock Street died Tuesday July 16 in Saint Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

He leaves two brothers Aurele Richard of Worcester and Ernest Richard of Auburn; two sisters Anita Duphily of Fitchburg and Doris Pelletier of Rumford, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Rumford, Maine son of Placide and Marie (Bourque) Richard.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Richard worked at Norton Company as a machinist for 36 years, retiring in 1984.

He was a member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243, Main South American Legion #341, Holy Name of Jesus Church and its 120 Club, the Greendale Retirees Mens Club and there golf and bowling league. He was an avid golfer.

The funeral will be held Thursday July 18 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond Street with a mass at 9 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church 53 Illinois St.. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery, Rumford, Maine. Calling Hours are Wednesday July 17 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Name of Jesus Church Building Fund 51 Illinois St. Worcester, MA 01610.
