Obituary

DUDLEY – Katherine M. Diamond, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2020 at home surrounded by her family.

She leaves her beloved husband of 56 years, David W. Diamond; a daughter, Jennifer L. Diamond and her husband Lars A. Lehtonen of Los Angeles, CA; a son, Jason D. Diamond and his wife Rebecca of Blue Creek, OH and their two children, Gracie Mae and Conner Paul Diamond, her beloved grandchildren; a sister whom she raised, Cheryl A. Blain, her husband Donald R. Blain and their son Zachary of North Grosvenordale, CT; many beloved nieces and nephews; and several cousins including her “sister at heart” Joanne Blain and her husband Romeo and their children Chris, Jess, and Josh. She also leaves her loved Sisters-in-laws Judy Diamond and Carolyn Marshall; her nieces, Laura Stanley, Deborah Diamond and Cori Marshall-Pelayo and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Evelyn (Bonner) Cassettari and by her step-mother, Yvonne (Malboeuf) Cassettari.

She was born in Putnam, CT on September 19, 1944 and lived in Dudley, graduating from Bartlett High School in 1963. She was married on February 29, 1964 at the United Church of Christ, Federated in Webster and lived in Oxford for five years, returning to Dudley in 1970. She then moved to Kissimmee, FL from 1990 to 1996 and again returned to Dudley, living there until her passing.

Mrs. Diamond first worked as a Spinner at Stevens Linen Associates. After raising her children, she was the manager of the deli at the former Big D Supermarket in Webster. With her loving heart, she took pride in giving care to her Mother-in-Law and her Step Mother in their later years.

She was an active member of the United Church of Christ, Federated in Webster since 1964 where she served as a greeter, a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She worked on many church breakfasts and suppers including Lions Club suppers. She joyfully co-chaired the annual Daffodil Tea and the Outreach Committee with her friend Sandy Beatty for many years and volunteered at the Webster-Dudley Food Share. She was a Lassie League coach, an avid reader, a needle pointer and a fantastic baker. She enjoyed celebrating special occasions by sending beautiful cards to friends and relatives.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 PM Sunday, December 6, in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster. A service will be held at 3:00 PM during the calling hours, with the Reverend Ann Gibert officiating. Current Covid-19 guidelines will be followed and everyone will be asked to wear a mask. Donations in her name may be made to the United Church of Christ, Federated, 4 Church Street, Webster, MA 01570, attention Ladies Parlor Restoration Fund.
