Mary (Nee) Irvine, 91, of Standish, Maine and Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Whitman, Massachusetts, died on Thursday November 12, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Rosmuc, County Galway, Ireland on December 2, 1928. Mary was the oldest of 12 children born to Patrick and Bridget Nee.
She left Ireland at the age of 18 and lived in London, England for two years. She then set out alone on a transatlantic voyage, landing in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1948. From there, she traveled to South Boston where she lived with relatives. She met and married the late John Irvine and they were happily married for 55 years before his passing in 2009.
She had many jobs over the years, but really enjoyed the ones where she was involved with caring for people. She enjoyed spending summers in Maine and winters in Sarasota where she leaves behind many friends.
Mary leaves behind 3 siblings, Coleman Nee and his wife Mary, Peter Nee and his wife Ann, and Barbara Keady and her husband William.
She is survived by her loving children, Deirdre Kelly, Mary Hurley and her husband Paul, Kathleen Sachetta and her husband James, Joan Dunne, John Irvine and his wife Michele, and Jacqueline Litif and her husband Marc.
She will be greatly missed by her 15 grandchildren, Meghan and Patrick Kelly, Christopher and Nicole Hurley, Kaitlyn (Herzig) and James Sachetta, Ian and Matthew Dunne, John, Jennifer and Joseph Irvine, Zachary, Rachel, Hannah, and Jenna Litif; and 6 great grandchildren, Michael Sachetta-Ramos, Lillian Irvine, Stella and Ryder Robinson-Irvine and Ryan and Brynn Sachetta. They were the loves of her life.
As per her wishes, there will be no Funeral Services. A private mass will be held in her honor. There will be a celebration of her life in 2021 for extended family and friends, with more information to follow.
