Thomas L. Rodgers, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, November 13, 2020 at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Pastor Randy Holt and Pastor Richard Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Rodgers was born July 3, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Jimmie Russell Rodgers & Ruby Doris Morris Lashley. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1960 and worked for over 30 years at H. R. Kaminsky & Sons, retiring as the manager. Mr. Rodgers loved his family, camping and taking care of his yards. He was a member of Higher Praise Apostolic Church.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Roberta Florence Thompson Rodgers of Fitzgerald; children: Ramona Rhodes & Richard of Abbeville and Regina Holt & Randy of Fitzgerald; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Billy Russell Rodgers & Meaka of Jacksonville, Florida and James D. Rodgers & Mary of Orange Park, Florida. Also surviving are Daniel Almodovar of Augusta, whom Mr. Rodgers considered like a son and Valerie Layton of Fitzgerald, his late son Jeffrey’s significant other. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lamar Rodgers.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Higher Praise Apostolic Church on Dewey McGlamry Road for fellowship following the service on Friday.
