David Eugene Ashby, 84, of Chesterfield, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.
He was born on July 7, 1936 in Madison County, the son of Fred and Madaline (Hunter) Ashby. He was a graduate of Daleville High School and worked 30 years for Guide Lamp Division of General Motors. David was a veteran of the Indiana National Guard, member of UAW 663, and the Chesterfield American Legion 419 and he enjoyed auto racing.
David is survived by his children; Cheryl Fleener and Jeff (Michelle) Ashby of Anderson and Christopher Patton of Daleville; 6 grandchildren; Jessica Ashby, Jeremy (Nicole) Ashby, Joshua (Tiffany Green) Ashby, Stephen (Jessica) Swegman, Nate (Kelly) Ashby, and Kelsey Ashby; 14 great grandchildren and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Gary Ashby.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 3:30 PM at Bronnenberg Cemetery in Chesterfield.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon until 3 PM on Thursday at
Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service. Please use the West Front Entrance for visitation.
Memorial Contributions may be given to the Chesterfield American Legion.
