Obituary

WEST SPRINGFIELD – Cornelius P. “Corny” Harold, Jr., 63, of West Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 5, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Greenfield on October 8, 1957, a beloved son of the late Cornelius P. and Marilyn G. (Adkins) Harold. He was raised in West Whatley and later in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and had lived in Holyoke for many years before moving to West Springfield in 2017. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy aboard the USS Joseph Hewes and attained the rank of Seaman Recruit. He was employed in the Maintenance Department at the U.S. Post Office on Main Street in Springfield. During his leisure time, he coached the Chicopee Braves Football Club and men’s softball teams locally and volunteered at the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center in Boston. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Bettiejane (Raymond) Harold. They were married on June 7, 1980 in East Longmeadow and were blessed with over 40 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Tina M. Lauziere and her husband, Wayne, of Chicopee and Philip A. Harold of West Springfield; his six cherished grandchildren; his six cherished great-grandchildren; his four dear brothers, Michael Harold of West Springfield, Timothy Harold of Florida, Scott Harold of Indiana and Daniel Harold of Northampton; his dear sister, Patricia Hanley and her husband, Ken, of Connecticut; his two dear sisters-in-law, Patricia Bickford and her husband, Bernie, and Irene Greenia and her husband, Walter, all of South Hadley; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. His family will receive friends on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (Please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home capacity is limited due to state regulations). His Burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center, 125 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
