Obituary

June Elizabeth (Bennett) Hibbard, 73 of New Britain passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home on Sunday November 1, 2020.She was the daughter of the late Orlando and Eva (Smith) Bennett and grew up in Southbury, on the water with her foster parents David and Hester Scott. As a teenager she loved spending as much time as she could in the water and waterskiing. June was a very dedicated person and spent most of her working life at just three companies: The Southbury Training School (as a patient aide; a position she loved so much that she wanted to pursue a career in nursing but could not afford it), Nitsuko America (trouble shooting calls) and Heath-Net (customer service representative for the Arizona Medicare population) June loved talking with the members and hearing them tell their stories, many of them calling her a young whipper snapper and of course each one of them joking to her: you’re in Connecticut” Oh, it's 85 degrees here in Arizona in February, what is your temperature there? June was the loving wife of David John Hibbard for the last 33 years and of course her 115-pound lap dog Buddy. June is survived by her children whom she loved dearly. David W. Abbott Jr. (Jennifer) of Spring Hill, FL and Christine Renee Eleazer (Donald Gorman) of Naugatuck, CT. Her loving grandchildren Robert Eleazer III of Naugatuck, Kimberly McCarthy of San Antonio,TX and Mathew Gorman (Sara) of Wallingford, CT. In addition she has many nieces and nephews that she loved and enjoyed chatting with on FaceBook if even just to say hello! Her Family was the most important thing to her and she loved/cherished spending time with each and every one of them..June enjoyed crocheting, painting (she was a certified one step paint instructor), traveling with her kids AND OF COURSE front porch sitting at her home! We were all caught up on the happenings of Ellis Street with June on guard!
She is survived by and had the privilege of having a side kick literally from day one - more than just a best friend/her twin sister; if you saw June; Janet was close behind. The two of them had a bond most will never understand; even finishing each other’s sentences. The two of them were content just sitting with each other spending time together it was a bond like no other! June is pre-deceased by her big brother John Bennett. June will be dearly missed by her family/friends and all who had the pleasure of getting to know her.
Due to COVID restrictions there will be no services scheduled at this time; a memorial will be planned at a later date
