Obituary

Antonio F. “Anthony” DeCotis, 94, of North Providence, RI, died Tuesday, November 3rd surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Viola E. (DiNuccio) DeCotis. They had been married for 36 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Francesco and Maria (DeMichele) DeCotis. He had lived in North Providence for 20 years previously living in Smithfield for 71 years. He was a PFC WW II Army veteran and member of the American Legion. Antonio owned and worked the DeCotis Dairy Farm in Smithfield for 30 years prior to working as a custodian with the Smithfield School Department and Newport Creamery. He retired in 2010. He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Smithfield. He was an avid sports fan and loved to cheer on his New York Yankees baseball club and also enjoyed his grandchildren sporting events, swimming, baseball, volleyball, soccer.

He leaves behind his only daughter, Maryann of Central Falls, his two sons Anthony and his wife Maria of Nashua, NH and Joseph and his wife Lisa of Lincoln. He also leaves his grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Ellen, Audrey, Austin, Alexis, and Adam. He was the brother of the late Ethel D’Andrea, Lola Spicuzza, John and Albert DeCotis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday November 6th at 10 am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Social distancing and face masks must be worn in church. Private burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the VA, Providence RI
