David L. Hamm, 63, of Tifton, Georgia, died Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Regency Hospital in Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, October 31, 2020, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Chaplain Don Gillis officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Hamm was born February 22, 1957, in Mayfield, Kentucky, to the late C.R. "Dick" & Helen Louise Lemon Hamm. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, retiring as an E-7. He worked in maintenance and flew with the Thunderbirds. His life’s passion was law enforcement. After moving to the community around 1994, he worked as a Deputy with the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Department and was currently a transport officer with the Irwin County Detention Center.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Hood Hamm of Fitzgerald; a step-son, Joseph & Jennifer Villella of New Orleans, Louisiana; a granddaughter, Taylor Bychurch of Fitzgerald; two sisters: Cheryl Jahna and Debbie Hamm, both of Avon Park, Florida and a niece, Terra Harper. He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Michelle Villella.
