Obituary

CHICOPEE – Diane Shirley (Peloquin) Blain, 70, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, October 25, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on June 10, 1950, a beloved daughter of the late Rene A. Peloquin, Sr. and Rachel M. (Breault) Peloquin. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. During her early years, she was a waitress at the former Princess Diner with locations on Memorial Drive and in Chicopee Falls. She later was a well-known waitress at the former Silvano’s Restaurant in Springfield where she worked for over 40 years. Most recently, she was the Assistant Manager at The Buffalo Club in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she loved visiting the local casinos and was known as a “Part-Time Resident” of the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Donald E. “Donnie” Blain who was Called Home on March 4, 2017. They were married on September 18, 1982 at the former Chateau Provost in Chicopee and were blessed with over 34 years of happiness together. She leaves her six loving brothers and sisters, Suzanne Chapdelaine and her husband, Leonard, of Chicopee, Robert Peloquin and his wife, Marlene, of Agawam, Nancy Roux of Chicopee, Richard Peloquin and his wife, Eileen, of Springfield, Rene Peloquin, Jr. and his wife, Jolene, of Chicopee and Sandi LaFleche and her fiancé, Ron Belair, of Chicopee; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving brother-in-law, Roland P. Roux who was Called Home on June 10, 2016. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 30, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home and Church capacity are limited due to state regulations).
